Where in the world?
My husband recently asked me a question I didn’t know how to answer entirely. “If things in the US were terrible and you had to move anywhere in the world other than the US, where would you go?” Of course, it would be easy to pick the most beautiful places or the places with the best food. That’s easy! But what about things like healthcare, government stability, economic stability, rights and freedoms, or cost of living? There are a lot of things to consider if you had to make a choice like that! So where would you pick? My husband and I didn’t necessarily pick the same places.
My first choice was Switzerland. I’ve visited this beautiful country before and fell in love with it. The people are friendly and the cities are clean. Their economy is stable and the government tends to take a neutral stand on foreign policies. Of course, Switzerland is also filled with breathtaking landscapes to lure me! I also like the central location of the country.
The second and third choices were difficult! I think I’d pick a Scandinavian country like Norway or Sweden, but I’m not a fan of snow…
I’m still working on these choices! I think it has made me reflect on how lucky I am as an American. Yes, our country isn’t perfect. It’s far from it. But I have freedoms so many others don’t have. Especially as a woman! I can vote, drive, dress how I want, and get educated. Many women throughout the world don’t have those basic rights and freedoms. I hope that our country will continue working toward healthy conversations and work together to preserve our sacred rights.
