Lessons Learned
Writing content for social media can be a little tricky. I recently wrote content for a business I am promoting. I wanted to increase reach and engagement with my promoted business. I decided that TikTok and Instagram would be the right platforms for my posts. I created a video, captions, and reel to share. Instagram is great for allowing you to share content as static images, videos, or both! I shared a post of the video with captions that tried to convey my message. I researched trending hashtags and included those as well. After looking at the analytics of the Instagram content, I found it interesting that the video has been viewed about 300 times. That isn’t necessarily a lot, but I also don’t have that many followers. I didn’t get the kind of engagement that I would’ve liked to see (comments or click-throughs to her page). In hindsight, I think I should’ve added a question or poll to engage the audience a little more.
The video was also shared on TikTok. I chose to upload the content to this platform because it is easy to reach a larger audience that likes videos. It also reaches a younger demographic. I was surprised to see that the TikTok video had as many views as the Instagram views! I honestly thought there would be a bigger discrepancy between the two! Next time, I would be curious to see what would happen if I uploaded it to different platforms. Perhaps there’s a better platform for advertising a photography business?
