Newsletter writing
Writing an email newsletter has certain requirements. First, you must understand your audience. That is key! Understanding the audience you’re writing for changes everything. The color scheme you choose to use, the font type, and of course the content itself. A newsletter with a serious tone lends to a very different type of audience than one geared toward youth or a silly topic.
Keeping text short and sweet is also important. Too much text and not enough imaging will lose your audience. The text should also be balanced with images interspersed. It makes the newsletter more interesting and draws in the audience.
The email subject line should not be overlooked either. It is the first thing to grab your audience’s attention. If the subject line doesn’t entice the audience, they won’t even click on the email. Subject lines tend to be more successful if there are emojis included as well. This may not work for every topic, but usually it does.
Newsletter content shouldn’t be too heavy on the promotional side either. The content should educate first, and promote your product or service second.
Lastly, be sure to include a call to action and a way for readers to subscribe/unsubscribe.
